A year after Microsoft has released it’s newest Operating System Vista, The company has announced that it is putting the finishing touches on service packs for the two of it’s latest operating systems. XP will be getting it’s third Service Pack Installment which again is to address vulnerabilities in the said OS is scheduled to be released during the first quarter of 2008. At the same time Vista is set to get a similar update as SP1 which hopes to eliminate the bugs in the OS that has surfaced and have been trying to fix through updates from the Microsoft Update site.
Six years after the release of XP the third service pack is aimed to make the operating system more stable and allows easy migration to the newer Vista. XP however is scheduled for retirement after the second quarter of 2008 ending automatic support and development of fixes for problems. Many analysts are quite dissatisfied by this move for as XP has started to become a very stable system base they are phasing it out which was seen as a move to force users into upgrading to Vista. Many welcome the updates from both sides as an addition to the stability the operating systems have reached during their already colorful lives in PC’s everywhere.
Apple in hopes of getting a bigger piece of the OS market with slightly improving sales of their Mac’s have recently released The Mac OS X – Leopard which is said to outweigh the operating systems released by Microsoft by leaps and bounds.
